Are we podiatrists?
The answer to that is no. We are not podiatrists. A podiatrist is a medical physician, we are certified pedorthists (Cpeds). A certified pedorthist scope of practice is basically from the ankle bone down. We’re trained in the 26 bones and 33 joints that are part of the human foot. When we build an orthotic, we’re extremely focused on what happens as the foot goes through the walking stride, or what we call the gait cycle. This cycle (or physical motion) is different depending on the activity. We build ski orthotics, hockey orthotics, orthotics for on your feet workers and all sorts of different environments and activities. Each of the custom orthotics we make has a unique and different design to match the activity, movement and users unique physiology. That’s why we don’t use any off-the-shelf solutions which are used by other orthotic providers.
Every orthotic we build is custom-built by a certified pedorthist specifically to work for your activity, footwear and foot shape. Our lab is on site, when you come to have an orthotic made it takes an hour and you’ll leave with your orthotic. We don’t send them out to labs, we build them ourselves. This makes for a more effective, efficient process for you.
